let your compassion guide you.

Compassion – a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.

Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) is being offered with Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE). Dr. James Doty began when he realized that there was a paradox with people who have position, financial resources or influence and saw people suffering and chose not to intervene. Compassion is found in the core of humanity. When we let that surface it profoundly affects all our lives in a good way and gives us meaning. When someone acts with kindness and compassion it has a very powerful impact in all aspects of our lives.

We meet up once or twice a month with what we call “Meet & Make” events. These events provide a space for community members to express their love and compassion for others facing adversity. Every month we have a new list (”Who Needs Love”) of people who need some words of encouragement. Each circumstance is different, each need is different, each person is from a different place but they all have one thing in common, they all need a little love. They don’t realize that we are sending them anything and most of the time they don’t know that something like this even exists.

All of your handcrafted notes of love will be collected and wrapped in string with a little slip to top off the parcel, that reads:

My husband explains this so well:

“When you workout a muscle in the body, you will notice that muscle becomes stronger. Just as you practice love and compassion in your life, you will notice that you will become a more loving and compassionate person.”
