What will you do to better the world around you?

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the everyday routine. After the holidays have passed it’s easy to get back to your default mode. You go to work/school and then back home and the next day repeats itself. Take a moment out of your day and..

Consider bettering the world in a small way, like:

1. Smile at a stranger.

2. Compliment someone on their shoes.

3. Ask a clerk how their day is going.

4. Pay for someone else’s coffee behind you at the drive thru.

5. Thank someone that provides a service for you that you don’t typically take the time to thank. (ie. Postal workers, employees returning shopping carts at the grocery store, snow plow drivers, police officers, fireman, tellers, etc)

6. Leave a little note of love/gratitude behind for someone to find.

7. Write an actual letter (not an e-mail, text message, Facebook message, Tweet, Facebook post) to a friend or loved one you’ve been thinking of lately. Put a stamp on it and mail it “the old-fashioned way.” I promise they will be surprised and appreciative.

8. Volunteer your time to help someone else (the task can be big or small).

9. Write a reminder in your calendar or a reminder in your phone weekly: “How can you better the world today?”

10. Write a reminder in your calendar or a reminder in your phone daily: “What are you grateful for?”

11. Put your smartphone or device down or leave it in the car so you can converse with those around you even if you are at the grocery store, bank or the post office.

12. Thank your parents or guardians for helping bring you into the world and doing their best. You being here is important. It’s not just up to a collective few to better the world, it’s up to all of us!
