What
Each PSL Drop Box will feature a dedicated station where passersby can familiarize themselves with this simple act of kindness initiative, conveniently located at their regular haunts (coffee shops, library, retail store, restaurants, community center, etc.).
The station will include a side table, a caddy stocked with writing materials (card paper, markers, pens, pencils), informative signage, and a QR code for volunteers to scan and discover “Who Needs Love.” Additionally, there will be a drop box for them to deposit their completed cards.
The station will include:
- light-weight side table
- paper goods (cardstock paper, postcards, envelopes)
- Writing utensils (pens, pencils, markers)
- Custom Card box with logo and “Love Dropbox” branding & instructions with a slot for notes of love
- Caddy to hold writing utensils and paper goods
This project aims to facilitate the involvement of new volunteers with People Spread Love (PSL) in a community-centric manner, providing them with a convenient platform to join in. It also serves as a means for PSL to maintain a visible presence within the community.
Give Love + Take Love
Reimagining the PSL Love Dropbox
Alex Bontecou, Executive Director of Community Resource Center of Teton Valley has helped us reimagine The PSL Love Dropbox where our community can “Give Love & Take Love.” 💌The concept is the same but with a little twist. The box is open always welcoming you to pour love in and at the same time take what you need. It’s an energy exchange of kindness and encouragement. Thank you CRC of Teton Valley for all you do to show up for community. 🌸🥰 I hope you feel the love through this little station.
Local PSL Love Ambassadors will be responsible for restocking the caddy with paper and writing supplies, updating the signage, and periodically collecting cards from the drop boxes for dispatch to their intended recipients.
Why
According to the CDC, communities affected by social loneliness span all age groups. There has been a 50% increase in social isolation since 2021. Also a 57% increase in overall sadness and hopelessness in young people since 2021. The PSL Drop Box initiative extends an invitation to individuals to partake in this act of kindness, allowing them to express their unique forms of creativity. By participating, they contribute words of encouragement and love to those who are in need of a positive emotional boost.
Empathy is a quality that benefits from regular exercise, and this community initiative has the potential to bring out the best in residents. It can pique curiosity about kindness, infuse a sense of positivity, and restore faith in humanity. It can serve as an inspiration for volunteers to engage in further acts of kindness, setting off a chain reaction of goodwill.
Do you own a business and want to sponsor a PSL Dropbox?
You have two options to support our cause: you can either sponsor a stationary dropbox located at your establishment, or you can sponsor a dropbox that rotates within your region. To become a sponsor, we request that you provide indoor housing for the station and/or donate $20 per month to assist in maintaining the supplies and covering postage for sending out the notes of love. In appreciation for your sponsorship, we will prominently display your logo(s) on the Dropbox caddy.
