I listened to Oprah’s Super Soul Conversation (yeah, I’m obsessed) with Kate Hudson just yesterday and there is a take away that just rang so true for me. Kate mentions that we are bombarded with an endless news feed on our devices; our smart watches, our smart phones, our tablets, our desktops.
*DING DING*
Notifications are constant if we let them invade us. Try turning off your notifications. If you really want to check that app for updates simply tap it and look and see. It can be a choice on what you look at, what you listen to.
The coronavirus, the 2020 Presidential election, natural disasters due to climate change, mass shootings, the Me Too movement, it’s an endless feed.
In order to quiet our minds for a moment it’s good to just unplug. Kate mentions her hope is after 5 pm, no phone. Why is it so hard to do that though? I know.. because it’s hard. We are so plugged in but in the past we didn’t know what was going on clear across the world and lived perfectly happy lives. Now we need to know right now.
When you put out into the world; “hey I need a restoration of hope in humanity, where is all positivity and Good News?” Well, Kind World literally just answered that call. A new season of Kind World helps share kindness and compassion that happens all over the world.
A good step forward in your life is to change the channel. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to be informed but I also think that there is such a thing as being TOO informed that you get anxious and depressed.
Give this a shot;
- listen to a positive podcast story that gives you the warms and fuzzies
- watch This is Us (seriously)
- listen to music that inspires you/fills you up
- put down the phone
- go for a walk
- resist taking a photo of something newsworthy just take a mental picture of that moment and be satisfied
- connect with the ones you love with no phone
- do what you love, technology aside (paint, draw, read, color)
