This morning I was thumbing through my Facebook feed and a friend of mine shared this post from a studio in Frederick, Maryland. It sparked a real frustration in me and it appears to have done the same for many more worldwide.
It’s not just about women being “catty” – let’s be honest it’s rooted deeper than that. We have been teaching our youth to put each other down, not only people unlike yourselves but people that we don’t identify with being within the “beauty standard.” As I have grown older I have realized that beauty lies much deeper. I understand it this way: if someone is going to be hateful towards another, it’s a direct reflection of how they feel about themselves. It’s easy to say “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” but that’s certainly not the case. Words are piercing.
Let’s break this cycle of hatefulness and re-teach ourselves to be loving. It first starts with your own “self-love.” You can’t love another without first loving yourself.

You must love yourself first in order to love others.. it all starts from within not without.
